Health Care
For urgent and emergency care, there are two hospitals within an hour's drive of Dorion. Nipigon District Memorial Hospital offers essential health care and emergency services for residents in the Nipigon district, while the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre offers more extensive health services and larger patient capacity.
For other health-related services, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit provides health care promotion services in the Nipigon branch office. The Norwest Community Health Centres (NWCHC) provides mobile health services to rural communities. Each month, a team of nurse practitioners travel to Dorion to provide health care for residents. The mobile unit provides care for clients who may find it difficult to travel for health care due to distance, their age, and other socio-economic circumstances.
